Formula & Equation Used

x(t) = x0 × (1 + (-r ÷ 100))t

Where,

x0 = Initial value,
r = Decay rate per year,
t = Elapsed time in years.

Example:

Find the final declined value x(t) for:

  • Initial value = 4500
  • Decay rate = 5.2% per year
  • Time = 3 years

x(t) = 4500 × (1 + (-5.2 ÷ 100))3

x(t) = 4500 × (1 - 0.052)3

x(t) = 4500 × (0.948)3

x(t) = 4500 × 0.85197

x(t) = 3833.87
